Data Protection
On May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) entered into force, introducing an unparalleled legal data protection framework. Being a regulation of the European Union, it is directly applicable in every EU member state. As such, all member states have the same minimum level of data protection throughout the Union.
Every person (i.e. "data subject") has the right to obtain information as to whether or not personal data concerning them is being processed as well as the right to rectification, erasure, limitation of or objection to the processing and data portability.
If the data subject is of the opinion that their rights are not being exercised or not being exercised sufficiently, they have the opportunity to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority.
According to Article 37 Paragraph 1 GDPR, data protection officers must be appointed. The data protection officer of Burghauptmannschaft Österreich is Christian Gepp, BA MA.
