Europa Nostra
EUROPA NOSTRA is an international heritage protection organisation. It was founded by the Council of Europe in the 1960s in The Hague with the aim to preserve Europe’s cultural and natural heritage.
The national representation EUROPA NOSTRA in Austria was founded in the year 1998 as a successor to the cultural and historical association "Austria Nostra". In 2001, its seat was transferred from Vienna to Graz ("Internationales Städteforum Graz" (ISG)), which has been in charge of the association's activities ever since. When EUROPA NOSTRA joined forces with Danube University Krems to become academic and scientific partners, its seat was moved to Krems (September 2012).
EUROPA NOSTRA Austria aims to safeguard, preserve, analyse and interpret Austria’s cultural and natural heritage. It promotes the conservation of cultural heritage as part of Europe’s culture and identity.
Burghauptmannschaft Österreich is a member of EUROPA NOSTRA.
