Schönbrunn Zoo - cleaning Stone Vases

To save money for expensive renovations: The 16 stone vases that stand around the Imperial Pavilion in Schönbrunn Zoo were carefully and gently cleaned of moss and dirt in 2021.

A pure lime slurry is then applied to the stone as a new wear layer. This not only improves the appearance of the vases, the measures also protect and preserve the substance.

The work and colouring of the slurry were coordinated in advance with the Federal Monuments Office Austria and we thank our colleagues from Department 403 for their commitment.
